Marikina City Congressional candidate Stella Quimbo led the groundbreaking ceremony for the renovation of the Marikina Science High School (MariSci) building on March 10.

Quimbo initiated the project to renovate the MariSci building after nearly two decades of teachers, learners, and school staff borrowing areas for learning after a site visit conducted last January.

She also announced that the institution’s building would be rebuilt from a two-story to a five-story building and would be equipped with state-of-the-art science laboratories, a gymnasium, an auditorium, four specialized workshop rooms, and 32 modern classrooms.

According to Quimbo, the plan to renovate the MariSci building became possible with the help of Dr. Rene Colocar, president of Marikina Polytechnic College (MPC), Dr. Juanito Gayola, principal of MariSci, and Dr. Alejandro Ibanez, DepEd Marikina Schools Division Superintendent.Meanwhile, MariSci learners from Grades 7 to 12 are currently co-sharing facilities with Kalumpang Elementary School (KES).

The institution has long co-shared land with MPC before, and thanks to their board of trustees, learners from Marisci now have the opportunity to learn on their own campus.
